Jenna Daum
Acting Associate Principal Flute
joined The Phoenix Symphony in 2012
Dr. Jenna Daum is currently the Acting Associate Principal/Second Flute of The Phoenix Symphony and has been Acting Second Flute since 2012. In addition to performing, Jenna is a passionate music educator and is Adjunct Instructor of Flute at Grand Canyon University and Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Born and raised in Decatur, Illinois (the soybean capital of the world!), serving the community has always been a priority for Jenna, starting with performing as a young girl at nursing homes with her mother on piano. Now, as an artist-teacher in The Phoenix Symphony Mind Over Music (MOM) outreach program, she works with kindergarten and special education teachers in the Phoenix public schools to use music to teach STEM. In addition to the flute, Jenna has also appeared internationally as soloist and artist-teacher of the ocarina. Passionate about bringing this ancient instrument to a wider audience, Jenna has authored over 10 books for ocarina, and in 2016 she premiered the Fantasy for Ocarina and Orchestra with the Washington Chamber Orchestra in Washington, D.C. When not teaching or playing the flute, Jenna can be found volunteering at Lost Our Home Animal Rescue, frolicking in her backyard garden with over 25 fruit trees, and traveling the world.
